SSR is during 2nd block today 

The singing & acting auditions for the fall musical, Mamma Mia will be today, Tuesday or Wednesday. The audition sign-up sheet is on the choir room door. No prior musical or performance experience is needed to join us, so bring yourself and a friend to audition for this high-energy show! See Ms. Pelligrino with any questions!

If you want to be in the library during lunch, you need a pass. Stop by to get one in the morning before school, or ask a teacher. Yes, you need a pass every day.

AAC will be through Thursday this week! Tuesday only: there will be no science AAC.  We will be meeting in C21 at 2:30 with doors closing at 2:40.  Come prepared to work independently, work with your group members or receive tutoring from our many awesome teachers.  Let’s start this year off well!  See the green flyers in various classrooms or Ms. Layton if you have questions

Attention all returning members of the National English Honors Society: There will be a meeting in room B-12 today, Sept. 18 to elect new officers and kick off the new school year. If you are a returning member who cannot attend, please see Mr. Pickell (pronounced Pick-HELL) on or before the day of the meeting.

We are happy to announce that the Loy Norrix eSports team will officially start meeting this Thursday, September 20th, in room B-13. There will be discussions regarding price, practice times, and more. If you’re interested in representing your school with your gaming skills (and possibly getting an eSports scholarship) then come on down to Mr. Greeley’s room and get ready to game!

Attention all sophomores and juniors. The Third 90 Network of Michigan Colleges Alliance is offering an opportunity to participate in a meaningful project in environmental sustainability with faculty and students from Michigan colleges and universities. This is a state-wide, nationally recognized program that exposes students to the college environment and focuses on STEM career awareness. You will be able to get hands-on learning opportunities through college visits and trips along with several afterschool workshops.   This program is looking for students who are self-motivated and will be highly dedicated. There are only 10 spots available. For more information and an application, please see Mrs. Young in M14. Deadline is September 21st. Don’t miss out on this exciting opportunity!!!!!

Attention seniors! Baby pictures and senior ads for the Yearbook are on sale now until September 30! Prices range from $10 for a baby picture to $125 for a full page ad. Coming up this Wed is the United Nations International Day of Peace.
What better way to spend it but to watch a video about the hardship of
apartheid in South Africa and its effects.  We will do a small group
discussion about the video and anti-racism and to then brainstorm how
to apply these suggestions to Norrix and our community,

There will be popcorn and a water bottle to eat and drink on your way home

If you need community service hours please bring your sheet to have
signed however attendance will be taken

If you want to play in our annual Flag Football game, please stop by Mrs. Stetten’s room (room C23) to pick up a permission slip.  Practices will be held this Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday on the practice field.  The game will take place Monday, September 24 (Time is To Be Determined). Your permission slip must be signed by a parent or guardian and returned before you practice. 

Tickets for Homecoming 2018- Blue White Neon Knight will go on sale
beginning this Wed. in the student cafeteria during all three lunches,
from sophomore Executive Board members or from Mrs. May.
 They are $5.00.  Guest passes will need to filled out but the Norrix
student will need to purchase their guest and their ticket to get a
free guest pass.  The dance begins after the Homecoming Football game.

Your Knights cross country team competed in the MSU Spartan Invitational on Friday. 15 out of 18 boys and 9 out of 15 girls ran their best times of the season or careers. Highlights of the meet were Caleb Schiffman dropping another 4 minutes off his time, Elijah Thompson cutting off one minute on his season best to set a new personal best, and Haniya Fayer dropping almost a minute and a half and getting a medal in the JV race, placing 12th out of 425 runners.The Loy Norrix cross country team gets little rest as they race again TODAY at Linden Grove Middle School in the first divisional jamboree of the season. Come out and cheer them on. Races are at 5 pm for boys and 5:45 for girls.

Attention Harry Potter fans!  Travel Club 2019 will be heading to the castle that was the inspiration for Hogwarts.  If you have a curiosity for adventure and are ready to fly see Ms. Van Lieu in A-12 or Mrs. Lewis in C-17 for an enrollment packet and bring those parents with you to a meeting on Sept 13 at 7pm in room A-12 to learn about how you can join us in London at the Kings Cross Underground track 9 3/4 next summer.  Tell the teachers if you are going to attend.

Last Saturday, your Loy Norrix Knights’ cross country team competed in the Averill Distance Meet in Milford. After an early start and long bus ride, the runners came to compete. 23 out of the 34 runners set season or personal bests in spite of a difficult course. They were led by Joy Hart who has medaled in all three meets this season. Dustin Keltsch led the boys’ team. Notable improvements were from Gina Bello and Bella Ford who cut nearly 1min off their personal bests and Caleb Schiffman who dropped nearly 5 minutes. Their next meet is at MSU Friday.
