Attention all Sophomores! The application deadline for the WMU School of Medicine
Early Introduction to Health Careers program has been extended until today, December
6th by 1:00pm. Sophomores, you are strongly encouraged to apply for this program if
you are interested in a career in health care, or unsure about your desired career
path. Please turn in applications to the counseling office as soon as possible to be
considered for this amazing opportunity.

Chess Club meets today from 2:20-3:30 in room D10. Anyone may attend, including staff members.

Attention Forensic Team – an all pod meeting will be held today, Wednesday, after
school until 4pm in Mrs. Carrow’s room J11. See you there!

Attention seniors! The deadline for senior pictures and senior quotes has been
extended to December 31! Email your picture and quote
to loynorrixyearbook@kalamazoopublicschools.net or bring to K3. Quotes must be 100
characters or fewer and school appropriate. You can email a quote even if you’ve
already submitted a picture. This is the final deadline, so don’t miss it!

Everyone is welcome to the Frosted Formal! Experience lights, music, & fun
on December 16th from 8-11. Tickets will be sold at all three lunches for $10. Get your
tickets now!

If you played a fall sport and were unable to attend the Fall Sports Awards night on Nov
29th, please stop by the Athletic Office before or after school or during your lunch to
pick up your award.

The second Softball Strength and Conditioning Challenge continues this week. Meet in
the weight room after school every Tuesday and Thursday until Christmas break.

Your AP Scholar for today is Antonio Cornieles! Antonio is a LN junior who
passed AP US History & is currently taking AP Spanish & AP Government. Since the
rigorous curriculum in his AP classes reflects college courses, he feels that he will be
better prepared for college. AP classes have helped him develop better study skills &
manage his time better. He also feels that his AP classes have improved his ability to
analyze & interpret information. Antonio is planning on taking AP Physics & AP

Chemistry next year. He is planning on applying to UofM & WMU his senior year to
study Aerospace Engineering

Indoor track will be starting up this week. If you are interested in running track in the
spring or you are just looking to stay fit in the cold winter months, come out for the
indoor track club. We will meet in the four corners between the C, K, and J wings after
changing in the locker rooms. We would love to have you join our indoor track club and
continue a winning tradition.

awesome incentives for the top individual food item donors and breakfast for the top 3
contributing classes!

The Mental Health Arts Awareness Event will be holding a meeting on December 5th in
Ms Layton’s room, K12. We will be selecting a date and working on project ideas. If you made the last meeting, come on down! If you didn’t make the last meeting and are

are still interested, stop by and see Ms. Layton

Government, AP Biology, AP Chemistry, AP Calculus, & AP Spanish. She feels that her
AP courses have improved her work ethic along with time management, & study skills.
She would definitely recommend taking AP courses, especially AP Bio & APUSH. She
feels Mr. Porco is a super cool teacher, and a lot of the skills from APUSH can be used
in the future. Mariah has applied to UofM, MSU, K College, MI Tech, & WMU. She plans
on studying Chemical Engineering or BioChemistry.
