SSR is 3rd hour.

The Winter Sports Awards will be held tonight, March 27th at 7 PM We look forward to seeing you there.

Chess Club meets Wednesday from 2:20-3:30.  Anybody may attend, and anyone who beats Mr. Bellware wins a customized chess board.

Attention Men’s Soccer Players:  Please come to the Cafeteria on Wednesday night at 7 to meet our new coach. Coach Forrester will be on campus to meet with as many returning players that can make it on Wednesday. He will have summer workout information.  See you on Wednesday!

Freshmen students taking the Algebra 9B final exam will go to Mrs. Leineke’s room, B-21, by 2:30 on Thursday, March 29.  Please be prompt.

Green school will be doing bottle recycling and working in the c-wing courtyard. If you would like to help out please meet in room B15 Thursday after school.

Do you want to climb the Eiffel Tower in Paris?  Have you ever eaten fish and chips in London?  Well, if you join Travel Club for summer 2019 you will get do that and more.  We are journeying to Ireland, Scotland, England and Paris.  See Ms. Van Lieu in A-12 for the enrollment packet and sign up for our next meeting which is after Spring Break.

There will be AAC every day this week.  Testing room will be on Thursday in K12.  The week we return from break THERE WILL BE NO AAC

Are you a writer? Poet? Artist? Photographer? Interested in being published? The National English Honor Society is now taking submissions for the Loy Norrix Literary Magazine. Submission folders are located throughout the school, library, and in English classes. You can also submit online by emailing lnliterarymag@gmail.com . You can send any questions to the same email address. Submissions can additionally be submitted electronically. All submissions are due by Friday, April 27th.

We have AAC Monday thru Thursday this week. The testing Room will be in K12 on Thursday.

Your Loy Norrix Knights track teams competed over the weekend at Eastern Michigan University. The boys took 10th out of 25 teams and the girls were 25th out of 29.

The women’s Distance Medley Relay and 4x400m relay scored. The men’s 4x200m relay also scored. Individually, Fletcher Robbins threw a lifetime best of over 43 feet in the shot put to earn points. Also, Zach Skinner took first in the pole vault with a height of 14 feet, only 4 inches off the school record. Please congratulate the track teams on their exceptional performances.

On Saturday, youth from around the Kalamazoo area competed in the Kalamazoo Youth Poetry Slam at Fire. Several Loy Norrix students competed. Congratulations to Camille Bistrek, Nakia Brown, Cemeelah Jackson, and Ariana Reece, who will advance to compete at Michigan Louder Than a Bomb Youth Poetry Festival!

Come see the movie about Leymah Gbowee tonight, March 21st in the four corners conference room at 6pm.  She helped stop a civil war in Liberia and ended up getting a Nobel Peace prize. You won’t want to miss this amazing story.

Interested in slam poetry? Well, today, Wednesday- March 21st there is a poetry slam hosted at WMU. The event starts at 8:30pm and will be at the Bernhard Center. Admission is only $2. Please see Mrs. Carrow for a flyer.
