Good morning from the National Honors Society. Are you ready to make a donation that will save lives?  Mark your calendars for April 30th and signup for the Loy Norrix Blood Drive! It will take place from 7:30 to 1:30 in the back gym.  Also, we are now allowing 16 year olds to participate with parental consent.  See Mr. Allen in A19 for details before or after school.

Travel Club 2019 British Isles and Paris will have an enrollment meeting for students and parents on Thursday, April 26th at 7pm in room A-12.  Please advise Ms. Van Lieu or Mrs. Bowser if you plan on attending.  Scholarships are still available for early enrollees as well as 3 free college credits.

The Loy Norrix Marching Band is looking for a few good women or men to join the Colorguard section!  The Colorguard is the only section of the band that you can join without knowing how to play an instrument.  If you’re interested in dance, movement, choreography, or performing in front of a live audience, this might be for you.  Please come see Mr. Mirakovits in the Band Room (J10) any day after school for more information.

We will be having an “Open Practice” on Thursday, May 3rd  at 2:30pm to anyone who might be interested.  If you can’t make it, at least let Mr. Mirakovits know you’re interested.   There’s no commitment yet, just come and learn how to spin a flag!

Little Shop of Horrors is a hilarious dark comedy with catchy tunes, campy humor and, of course, a few horrors. Come see Loy Norrix Performing Arts’ hilarious take on one of the most loved musicals of all time!  The last Performances are tonight and tomorrow at 7pm Tickets are $10 for students and senior citizens, and $12 for adults. This week, tickets will only be sold on Tuesday and Thursday.

The results of this year’s NATIONAL LATIN EXAM have arrived and LOY NORRIX LATIN

STUDENTS are winners again this year with  8 GOLD MEDALS,   11 SILVERS, and 8 Certificates.  Individual scores are posted in A16 so please stop by and see how you did. Awards will be given out later this spring at a Latin awards party – details will follow. CONGRATULATIONS from Magistra Felkel

SSR is 4th hour today.

Want to make some new friends? Want a place to chill for an hour after school? Enjoy tea? Well your reasons for joining are none of our business but come to tea club! today, April 17th, 2:30-3:30 in Ms. Mallory’s room, D13

In the track meet on Friday, both men’s and women’s track teams performed admirably. The boys repeated as Gull Lake Invitational Champions beating the second place team by 59 points. The girls finished 4th after winning last year. Joe Meyers got second in the mile and won the two mile in a meet record time of 9:55, setting personal bests in both. Zach Skinner set the meet record in pole vault with a height of 13 feet in the cold and rainy conditions. Lee Jones and Bill Bowser went 1st and 2nd in the 400. Tristen Morales took 2nd in the 110 hurdles as did Nuru Lewis in the 200 and Alexa Davis in the 800. Alexa Davis, Joy Hart and Emily Holtz medaled in other events as well. Both 4×400 relay teams were meet champions as was the boys 4×200 relay. Marshawn Bell and Fletcher Robbins scored a combined 24pts in the throwing events and Jordan Mabon-Cooks took second in long jump.  Our next meet is Friday at the Hastings Invitational.

For any student that wants a prom dress but can’t afford the crazy prices of department stores, come to the dress give away on Wednesday, April 18th from 2:30-4 to find a beautiful dress for your senior prom. Contact Mrs. Leineke for any additional details.

The Senior and Junior Prom is quickly approaching. On Saturday May 5th from 8-10pm, Loy Norrix’s class of 2018 will be hosting prom at Nikko’s Landing. This event will for sure be a “Knight to Remember”. If you haven’t already purchased your ticket, make sure to stop at the ticket table during your lunch. This week, tickets will only be sold on Tuesday and Thursday.

The class of 2021 please plan on meeting in the library Wednesday, April 18th at 7am.

Students interested in learning about a career in the skilled trades and enjoying some restaurant pizza at the same time?  Then come down to the guidance office and sign up for this special lunch and learn on Thursday during your lunch in room D-13.

Interested in becoming a link leader? Link crew is now accepting applications for the 2018-2019 school year. Current sophomores and juniors can pick up and turn in applications in the main office or the library. Applications are due Friday, April 20th by 2:30, and all applicants must attend round tables on Wednesday, April 25th.
