On Monday, the cross country teams raced in the first divisional jamboree of the season at Linden Grove Middle School. In spite of the heat and humidity, the team performed better than expected. Yoshiya Anderson and Lily Daniels both set personal bests. Loy Norrix even had the top four freshman girls’ times of the day. The boys and girls teams finished 4th and 3rd respectively. The next race is at Jackson’s Ella Sharp Park Friday for JV runners and Saturday for the varsity.
The singing & acting auditions for the fall musical, Mamma Mia will be today, Wednesday. The audition sign-up sheet is on the choir room door. No prior musical or performance experience is needed to join us, so bring yourself and a friend to audition for this high-energy show! See Ms. Pelligrino with any questions!
Chess Club starts today from 2:20-3:30 in Computer Lab D-10. Anybody may attend and anyone who beats Mr. Bellware wins a customized chess board.

Today is the day when we are going to celebrate the United Nations
International Day of Peace in the auditorium from 2:30-4:30. Come
watch a video about the apartheid in South Africa. Afterwards we will
break into small groups, discuss the video and brainstorm ways to use
anti-racism practices at Norrix and our community. At the end you will receive a bag of popcorn and a bottle of water to enjoy on your way home. Transportation is NOT provided so plan on how you are going to go home afterwards.

There will be discussions regarding price, practice times, and more. Attention all sophomores and juniors. The Third 90 Network of Michigan Colleges Alliance is offering an opportunity to participate in a meaningful project in environmental sustainability with faculty and students from Michigan colleges and universities. This is a state-wide, nationally recognized program that exposes students to the college environment and focuses on STEM career awareness. You will be able to get hands-on learning opportunities through college visits and trips along with several afterschool workshops. This program is looking for students who are self-motivated and will be highly dedicated. There are only 10 spots available. For more information and an application, please see Mrs. Young in M14. Thursday, Sept 20th will be our 1st pick up for the 2018 Clothing
Drive. The items should be counted so the Peacejammers will know how
many you have. The winning class will receive Rykes’ Cinnamon Buns
and juice. Items will be split between our Community in Schools and
Project Connect at the Fairgrounds for individuals in the county that
are homeless and without proper clothing.
Attention all Junior and Senior girls: If you want to play in our annual Flag Football game, please stop by Mrs. Stetten’s room (room C23) to pick up a permission slip. The first practice is tomorrow from 6:00-7:00 on the practice field. We will also have additional practices on Saturday and Sunday to prepare for Monday’s game. Your permission slip must be signed by a parent or guardian and returned before you practice. The game will take place Monday, September 24 at 6:30, so mark your calendars!
Tickets for Homecoming 2018- Blue White Neon Knight will go on sale
today in the student cafeteria during all three lunches,
from sophomore Executive Board members or from Mrs. May.
They are $5.00. Guest passes will need to filled out but the Norrix
student will need to purchase their guest and their ticket to get a
free guest pass. The dance begins after the Homecoming Football game.
The next meeting of the Loy Norrix Film Society is scheduled Friday from 2:30 to 3:30pm in room B-12. All Loy Norrix students are invited to attend, particularly those with a passion for watching, discussing, and cracking jokes about films. No prior film watching experience is necessary.
