Start your holiday break off right by attending the Kalamazoo United Hockey 5 on 5 ice battle against Mattawan this Friday, Dec. 21st.  The puck drops at 6:00 pm at Wings West.  Entrance is $5.00 unless you have a season Hockey pass.  Your Loy Norrix attacking zone will be Berkley Cox, Maxwell Byrd, Sean Mason and Gavin Pittman.  While Nolan Tribu and Josh Schaefer will be those D-men working with Parker Remelius to keep the puck out of the net!

Your AP scholar today is: Will Dales! Will is a senior & completed AP US Government & AP Psychology his junior year. He is currently taking AP English Language & AP Chemistry. Will feels that taking AP classes have forced him to become more organized & conscious of time management. He has been able to transfer the study skills that he learned in his AP classes to all of his classes. He would recommend AP Psychology because the material is very interesting & AP Gov since Mr. Wright is a hoot. Will has applied to U of M, Butler, Marquette, Loyola of Chicago, MSU, & Xavier.

Your AP scholar for today is: Zoe Srackangast. Zoe is a senior & has completed AP Spanish, AP US Government, & AP Biology. She is currently taking AP Psychology, AP Language, AP Statistics, & AP Calculus. Since her AP classes have an increased workload they have pushed her to manage her time better, become more organized, & procrastinate less. Mr. Stevens teacher AP Studio Art which is a year-round class for students that are interested in studying art after high school.  During the school year students develop an art portfolio that not only shows their range of skills, but also allows them to choose an idea to explore in-depth. The Loy NorrixeSports club is hosting a Super Smash Brothers Ultimate tournament in the library today, Tuesday, December 18th, right after school in celebration of the new game. Come out and test your skills against the best competition in the school. Prizes will be awarded to the top two finishers in the tournament. We hope to see you there.

Your AP Scholar for today is: Carly Loken!  Carly is a junior & has taken AP Psychology, AP US History, & AP Language. She is currently taking AP US Government. Cary feels that her AP classes have helped her improve her time management & study skills. Since her AP teachers go more in depth she also feels like she will have a lasting understanding of the material. She would recommend that everyone take an AP class, but especially AP Psychology & AP Language since they teach useful facts that are easily applicable to everyday life. She plans on applying to K College, U of M, & New York University her senior year & intends on majoring in Psychology.

Nmeso feels that taking AP classes will help him prepare for the workload of college classes & have helped him manage his time & school work more effectively. The National Art Honor Society will have its first meeting today at 2:30pm in room A-12.  This Society is open to Juniors and Seniors who are interested in d scholarships for study of fine arts and careers in design.  Contact Ms. Van Lieu for further information.

Your AP Scholar for today is:  Ebube Okpechukwu! Ebube is Senior & took AP Biology & AP Language & Composition her junior year.  She is currently taking AP Calculus, AP Chemistry, & AP Psychology. Since the workload of AP classes is similar to college classes she feels better prepared for college next year. Her AP classes have helped her manage her time better & have challenged her. She would recommend taking both AP Lang & Calc because they are useful & prepare you for the SAT. Ebube has applied to WMU, UofM, MSU, Ferris State, Wayne State, & Ohio State & plans on studying pre-med.


We are also highlighting AP Teachers during the months of December & January. The first AP teacher we are featuring is Ms. Brianna English! Ms. English teachers AP Language which is is a non-fiction reading and writing course. In the course, you’ll read a diverse group of authors writing in a variety of non-fiction modes, including essays, nonfiction novels, reporting, and memoir. The course will push you to be a better writer, focusing on your growth in analysis, argumentation, and synthesis. You should consider taking the class if you’re a hard worker who wants to become a better writer and thinker. You’ll gain college-level reading and writing skills and be part of an interactive classroom community. Ms. English enjoys sewing my own clothes, playing soccer, traveling around the world, and making bad jokes.

Tonight at Wings West in a league game against Kalamazoo Eagles at 6:00 pm.

And Tomorrow at Wings West in another league game against Southwest Michigan Blades at 7:30 pm.  Come Cheer Berkley Cox, Maxwell Byrd, Sean Mason,Gavin Pittman, Parker Remelius ,Nolan Tribu and Josh Schaefer to a win both nights!

SSR is 2nd hour today.

AAC will be today and Thursday.  Bring work to complete and be in C21 before 2:40.  Testing room will be on Thursday.  

Please remember to return or renew your library books. Other students would like to read them. You will not be charged as long as we get the book back. 

Reminder to all 2018  Boys Tennis Team members: The End of season Team Dinner and Awards Night is tonight, Tuesday, Dec11th from 7-8:30 pm @ Blue Dolphin restaurant.

The Women’s varsity team plays at  6:30pm and the Men’s varsity team plays at 8:00pm. The student section is going to be Christmas theme!
