At the MetroHealth Scholarship Track Invite last night, some of our best track athletes had great races. Myles Baker and Joe Meyers ran their high school bests of 4:50 and 4:20 in the mile. Elijah Thompson also went under 4:55 in his mile. Abraham Konjoh tied his best of 12ft 6in in pole vault. Ebony Battle ran her high school best of 28.08 in the 200m dash. The 4×400 relay of Lucyma Konjoh, Analiese Bol, Joy Hart, and Kendal Sloan ran under 4:30 for their best with that line up with nearly all the girls running 67sec for their 400 splits. The 4×200 of Lucyma Konjoh, Ebony Battle, Breonia Robinson, and Kendal Sloan went 1:52.56 and place 3rd in an elite field. That was the best time with that line-up and Norrix’s second best of the year. Please congratulate these athletes on great races.

Your Loy Norrix Knights competed admirably at the Division 1 Region 3 track meet this past Friday. Although not everything turned out as expected, there were some great performances. Ebony Battle scored in the 100 and Marshawn Bell scored in discus. Bill Bowser’s personal best of 51.96 scored in the 400 meter dash while Ella Schnell’s personal bests in the 3200 and 1600 meter runs almost scored in both but ultimately earned points only in the 1600. Both the men’s and women’s 4×100 and 4×200 meter relay teams scored with the men’s teams just missing state qualifying standards by 0.3 seconds in each! Abraham Konjoh just missed qualifying in pole vault by 6 inches with his personal best tying vault. Nate White was even closer to making the state meet but missed it in the 100 meter dash by 0.03 second. However, we did have state qualifiers in Breonia Robinson with her best in the 100 hurdles, DeAndre Worthy in his best in the high jump and Joe Meyers in the 1600 and 3200 meter runs with his best coming in the 1600. Please encourage these athletes as they prepare over the next 2 weeks for their state meet competition.
