October is LGBTQ+ history month!  Come join the Gender and Sexuality Alliance TODAY from 2:30-3:30 in room B-21 to learn about and discuss the Stone Wall Riots. Hope to see your there!

The Class of 2021 Executive Board Bonfire and speech giving maybe inside due to the weather but It will go on at Mrs. May’s house today beginning at 5:30.  

Interested in playing softball? Just want to get in shape? Try the softball strength and conditioning challenge! Meet in the weight room every Tuesday and Thursday after school for 4 weeks. There are prizes for personal growth and completing the challenge. Bring a friend and come push each other to be healthy and strong. The first day is Tuesday October 10. See Coach Johnson in C12 for more information.

Attention juniors! If you signed up to take the PSAT/NMSQT study guides are available in the counseling office & are first come first serve.

There will be a short meeting for all returning baseball players along with those interested in playing this season in the cafeteria immediately after school on Tuesday, October 10th.

Loy Norrix Knights competed in the last divisional cross country jamboree of the season. Both teams performed extremely well with nearly everyone performing at a season or life-long best time. Particular standouts were Joy Hart who finished 3rd overall and made all division honors and Joe Meyers who finished 2nd but could not earn all division because of missing the first jamboree due to a tennis match. The teams compete again on Saturday at the Portage Invitational at Portage West Middle School. If anyone wants to compete in the open race, it is open to anyone who wants to run. The fee is $20 and if you beat coach Schmidt, he will pay for your race.

The Art/Anime Club will meet today, Friday October 6th at 2:30 in room A-12.  Bring your sketchbooks and ideas.  The club has 10 members right now and we are looking for more who are interested in graphic novels, cartooning and other art forms.  

There will be a 2020 executive board meeting next Tuesday, October 9th, at 7am.

If you are competitive, like acting or informing – we have a team for you! Come out and learn about the Loy Norrix Forensics Team! We are a no cut team and want you on our team! Next week is Forensics Week — Monday through Thursday 2:30-3:30 next week! We will be covering events, workshop for auditions and announce the team with a pizza party at the end of the week! See Coach Carrow with any questions.

Seniors more college visits are being scheduled daily.  Please stop by the counseling office to sign up and watch the TV’s for up-to-date information about these visits.

The Annual Holiday Shopping Trip to Chicago and Michigan City is open to all students, staff and parents.  The cost is $50 for the round trip charter bus.  Tickets and permission slip are now available from Mrs. May. The trip in on Sat. November 18th.

The Mobile Health Unit will be here at Loy Norrix today and today, October 5th.  You will need a Mobile Health Unit consent form signed and returned to Mr. Baker in the CIS office no later than October 3rd to visit the MHU.  If you need a form they can only be picked up in the CIS office in the B Wing.

The men’s and women’s cross country teams capped off their 3rd meet in 8 days this past Saturday in Jackson. In spite of the heat, the teams ran well. 10 out of the 14 runners on varsity ran season bests. Dustin Keltch, Julia Pinkster, Joy Hart, and Ashley Keltch ran the best times of their lives. Ashley even improved by over 2 minutes. The teams get this week off but compete in Battle Creek in the last divisional jamboree next Tuesday.

The Peacejam meeting about the trip to India is going to be held on Wednesday September 27th at D & W on Romence Road from 6pm to 7pm.  Come learn about this amazing trip and fundraisers to help you get there.

Students anyone with multiple tardies, taking multiple lunches, and/or Category 2 referrals will not be able to take part in after school homecoming activities, this includes the game and dance Friday night.  Make good decisions this week!

The winning class and 1st runner up will receive Rykse’s cinnamon buns and juice from Peacejam to thank you for helping to make a difference in the lives of others.
