The track meet scheduled for today has been cancelled. See coaches for more details. We will still be holding practice at the normal time and everyone is expected to attend.

A huge congratulations to the Loy Norrix Forensics Team as they made school history having over 15 students qualify for the State team. The Forensics team placed 3rd overall in their region and head to compete for the state championship at the end of this month!

Boy’s Varsity Team took third place in the first SMAC jamboree this year. They finished behind two very solid Mattawan and Gull Lake teams. Sophmore Brad Dimmock finished in the top 3 with a score of 40 and Senior Zack Simms came in with a 43.

There will be AAC Mon-Thur this week.  Testing room will be Thurs in K12

The Senior and Junior Prom is quickly approaching. On Saturday May 5th from 8-10pm, Loy Norrix’s class of 2018 will be hosting prom at Nikko’s Landing. This event will for sure be a ” Knight to Remember”. If you haven’t already purchased your ticket, make sure to stop at the ticket table during your lunch. This week, tickets will only be sold on Tuesday and Thursday.

The class of 2021 please plan on meeting in the library Wednes, April 18th at 7am.

Students interested in learning about a career in the skilled trades and enjoying some restaurant pizza at the same time?  Then come down to the guidance office and sign up for this special lunch and learn on Thursday during your lunch in room D-13.

Current sophomores and juniors can pick up and turn in applications in the main office or the library. Applications are due Friday, April 20th by 2:30, and all applicants must attend round tables on Wednesday, April 25th. Little Shop of Horrors is a hilarious dark comedy with catchy tunes, campy humor and, of course, a few horrors.

Come see Loy Norrix Performing Arts’ hilarious take on one of the most loved musicals of all time! Performances are April 19th, 20th & 21st at 7pm Tickets are $10 for students and senior citizens, and $12 for adults. There IS GSA today, Friday April 13, in room B21 from 2:30 to 3:30.

The next meeting of the Loy Norrix Film Society is scheduled today from 2:30 to 3:30pm in room B-12. All Loy Norrix students are invited to attend, particularly those with a passion for watching, discussing, and cracking jokes about films. The Varsity Softball team won its first game of the season, defeating Climax-Scotts 10-7 on Wednesday. The Knights were led by multiple hits and RBIs from Bethany Dunham and Jahzara Ademodi. Annie Mansfield pitched and earned the win, with relief from Sierra Knight.

If you played a winter sports and were unable to attend the Winter Sports Awards on Tuesday night, stop by the Athletic office to pick up your award during your lunch or before or after school.  For the wrestling team your coach will be holding a get together and hand out your awards.

Kalamazoo United Mens Lacrosse Team split the first two games of the season this week – losing to Byron Center on Monday and beating Kentwood last night.  KC Freshmen Jon Andrews and Nick Salvaggio and LN Freshmen Gavin Pittman and Josh Schaefer have all made their season debuts for the team, with Josh Schaefer getting a goal and assist this season.  The week after break, we have home games at KC on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday ….come on out and support the team!

We have AAC Monday thru Thursday this week. The testing Room will be in K12 on Thursday.

Your Loy Norrix Knights track teams competed over the weekend at Eastern Michigan University. The boys took 10th out of 25 teams and the girls were 25th out of 29.

The women’s Distance Medley Relay and 4x400m relay scored. The men’s 4x200m relay also scored. Individually, Fletcher Robbins threw a lifetime best of over 43 feet in the shot put to earn points. Also, Zach Skinner took first in the pole vault with a height of 14 feet, only 4 inches off the school record. Please congratulate the track teams on their exceptional performances.

On Saturday, youth from around the Kalamazoo area competed in the Kalamazoo Youth Poetry Slam at Fire. Several Loy Norrix students competed. Congratulations to Camille Bistrek, Nakia Brown, Cemeelah Jackson, and Ariana Reece, who will advance to compete at Michigan Louder Than a Bomb Youth Poetry Festival!

Attention all aspiring AP Artists!  Selection for AP Studio Art during the 2018/2019 school year is under way.  If you would like to be considered for AP Studio Art next year, please see Mr. Stevens in room A-21, before or after school, to set up a time for your portfolio review.  This process is a requirement to be placed in AP Art, so make sure to set up a time to meet with Mr. Stevens as soon as possible.

Come cheer on the Forensics Team at their last invitational before Regionals. The tournament will take place at Portage Central High School and start at 9am. You are welcome to come anytime

Are you committed to Non-Violence and Gun Control?  If so consider being a part of the WMU student sponsored March for Life Saturday. The March begins at the Bernhard Center on WMU’s campus tomorrow at 1:00.  The march will end at Bronson Park around 3:00. See Mrs. May for details.
